Our collaboration with Bridge2Food has been longstanding and consistently rewarding for Givaudan. Even during the challenges of the Covid pandemic, Bridge2Food successfully cultivated a strong sense of community, enabling the exchange of ideas despite physical distances. We always look forward to participating in these inspiring gatherings.

Taste is a key factor in plant-based food success. What are some key challenges brands face when developing plant-based flavours, and how does Givaudan help?

Taste is paramount in everything we do at Givaudan. We understand that developing appealing plant-based products presents unique challenges. Our extensive portfolio of delicious flavours, combined with specialised tools like masking agents to address undesirable tastes, allows us to collaborate closely with our customers. This ensures that the final products not only meet their expectations but also delight consumers.

Consumer expectations for plant-based foods are evolving. What can attendees expect to learn from Givaudan’s session on the next wave of plant-based innovation?

We recognise that consumer behaviours in the plant-based sector are rapidly evolving. To gain deeper insights, we conducted an extensive consumer study with a robust sample size, complemented by focus groups to capture genuine preferences and aspirations for new plant-based products. Attendees at our session will gain valuable insights into consumer needs and desires, equipping them to develop future products that resonate with these evolving expectations.

Can you share an area of research or a recent advancement that’s particularly exciting for your team?

We are actively exploring various solutions to elevate the taste and experience of plant-based foods. This year at Bridge2Food, we are excited to showcase innovations centred around BBQ flavours, emphasising smoky and umami experiences. We look forward to sharing ideas and new solutions that bring these culinary experiences to life.
